QUapaw Nation Pottery Class Announcment
Quapaw Nation - Pottery Class Announcement

The Business Committee is pleased to announce there will be two upcoming pottery sessions. The sessions will be funded by the nation. The previous pottery classes were made available through a library grant. A special thank you to Pattie Billings, QN Library Director, for writing those grants. Often entities may receive funding once or twice in a row before being awarded again, so 5 years running is a great accomplishment! Again, thank you, Pattie.

The classes will be taught by tribal member and potter, Betty Gaedtke. The dates and times are to be determined. Once dates/times are secured they will be posted by the Communications Team on the website as well as other platforms utilized by the nation.

The Business Committee recognizes the significance pottery has in our culture. This year Betty “plans to teach how to find, excavate, and process raw clay dug from the ground, and use it in projects as our ancestors did.” It is a desire shared by both BC and Betty that by holding these classes future artisans will be developed and continue teaching for many years to come.
